Madlyn Stokely

Madlyn Stokely, is the President of the Mt. Morris Park Community Improvement Association, (MMPCIA).  Born in Harlem Hospital and living here all her life, Madlyn is a Harlemite through and through.  Madlyn moved with her 2 daughters to the Mt. Morris Park Historic District over 40 years ago., with her unwavering commitment to the preservation of the community, Madlyn is proud of who she is having been shaped by the rich cultural and political history of Harlem the world’s Black mecca.   Madlyn follows in the footsteps of her mother, Mr. Hilda E. Stokely, the Founding Chairperson of the Mt. Morris Park Rehabilitation Committee, who in the early 1960’s, secured funding to rehabilitate the then, Mt. Morris Park.

After retiring as Assistant. VP of Student Services at Hunter College-CUNY, the former director of the senior citizen nutrition program at the Pelham Fritz Center, has jumped back into community service to use her skills as a social worker and administrator to celebrate the richness of the Mt. Morris Park Historic district.  Locking arms and arms with her neighbors, as President of MMPCIA, Madlyn’s goal is to  remove barriers which may impede residents from enjoying Harlem’s greatness.
